2. Minutes of the Meeting Held 10th Jan 2008
Agreed as a true record.
3. Matters Arising
- Path Work
The Group has sent an e-mail to Fred Duff regarding the path work done using the 106 Grant money.
- Shoes for Action Morning Volunteers
Joan has distributed the safety shoes amongst the volunteers. She has just 5 pairs left.
4. Correspondence
E-mails exchanged between the Group, the Gledhow Valley Conservation Area Group (GVCAG), Counsellor Wadsworth and Ann Castle regarding the proposed house development on Gledhow Valley Road. An e-mail has been sent by Martin Calvert stating our objections. A Plans Panel meeting will take place on 14 February at 1.30pm at the Civic Hall.
5. 106 Grant Update
The Group has asked Fred Duff to walk the path to assess the work that has been done. The island has been cleared. Plants such as oak, rowan and hawthorn have been ordered. £500 has been spent using the services of the BTCV.
Bags of wildflower seed have been bought, some of which will be given to local residents living by the woods to spread close to where they live. It is planned to use the other seed at the Action Morning in March if the frost has gone.
6. Action Mornings
The January Action Morning went well - benches were installed and some path work done.
The next Action Morning is on Sunday 10th February. Adrian agreed to sort out the delivery of 8 tons of stone and matting, and the Morning will be used for topping up existing paths and preparing new ones. Mervyn has got the timber to do some decked areas but this may not be done until a future Action Morning.
The Action Morning in March will hopefully be spent planting the island and spreading wildflower seed. Please meet at the old car park on Gledhow Valley Road.
Work at the Action Morning in April will depend on what is left over from February and March, but will probably be decking.

9. AOB
- Forest Garden
Peter suggested creating a "forest garden" in the woods and planting edible plants in a terraced/layered way. He identified the area near the pastures for clearing and replanting. However, some of the Group raised the issue of the local residents complaining last time this area was cleared. Peter suggested asking Justin for his opinion and asking local residents for their opinions beforehand.
