5. Action Mornings

  • Saturday 6 October 2012
Approximately 20 volunteers attended the Action Morning. The meadow has been cut and raked. A lot of cutting back was completed along the carriageway and near the meadow. Also a lot of litter picking was done as there was a lot of household rubbish near little Switzerland.

Future Action Mornings

Proposed dates and tasks for the coming year (subject to change):

  • Saturday 10 November 201
Work will continue from the last Action Morning and will include raking the meadow, tree thinning, and bulb planting. Volunteers to meet in the meadow at the end of the lake on Gledhow Valley Road.

6. Grant Applications

Nothing to report.

7. FunDay 2013

The date of the FunDay has been agreed as Saturday 8 June 2013.

8. Audrey's Donation

The Group are very grateful for a second donation from Audrey to go towards work in the woods and a new bench.

The Group has investigated buying a trailer and one has become available for £90-£100. It was agreed to store this with Martin in place of the trailer kindly loaned to the Group by Jim Mudd.

9. Benches

The Group has received enough money for 4 benches. The plots have been selected and include the bottom of the carriageway, the slope down to the jetty, the bottom end of the lake and in the beech wood near the Bath House. The Group suggested ordering the benches ready to put in during Spring.

10. Christmas Fairs & Farmers Markets

11. AOB

  • FGVW Christmas Cards
Martin suggested a 3 for 2 offer on the remaining Christmas Cards. No decision was made.
  • FGVW Coasters
Naomi has sold coasters worth £74. The Group had a discussion around how quickly more coasters could be produced if they sold well at the various Christmas fairs and markets. Naomi to keep check on the numbers sold and produce more if necessary. Coasters are selling for £2 each. Naomi also suggested other merchandise ideas including sponsorship from local businesses. The Group were asked to think of ideas for the first quarter next year.
  • Dangerous Dogs
The Group has been made aware of an incident in the woods where 2 Staffordshire bull terriers viciously attacked a brown Labrador in an unprovoked attack. The incident happened in the early hours of the morning and the police were in attendance. It is rumoured that the terriers and their owners were hunting foxes. The Group are warning dog owners to be vigilant in the woods.
