BBC Springwatch at Temple Newsam
On the first weekend in June there were 15 Springwatch events around the UK as part of the BBC's Breathing Places campaign. Breathing Places is a three year plan to help people make a real difference for wildlife in their neighbourhood.
The Friends of Gledhow Valley Woods was present at the event at Temple Newsam in Leeds, promoting the group, giving advice to others hoping to start a Friends group themselves, selling FGVW merchandise and bird boxes, etc.
The Group agreed it had definitely been a worthwhile event, and received:
£315.00 from the sale of birdboxes
£78.90 from the sale of merchandise
£57.50 from the Hunt the Duck game
£3.40 in donations
The event also provided a very good opportunity to promote the Group and lots of discussions took place throughout the day with several hundred people.
If you have any photos or stories about past FGVW events you have attended, please contact us so we can add them to the site.
